Terrence McNally to be Honored at 2012 Westport Country Playhouse Gala

Playwright Terrence McNally will be honored at the Westport Country Playhouse’s 2012 gala, titled The Full McNally, to be held on Monday, September 24. Josh Rhodes directs the evening, which will feature musical direction by Mary-Mitchell Campbell.

The gala will be hosted by Tyne Daly, who recently starred as Maria Callas in McNally’s Master Class, and Richard Thomas, who appeared in McNally’s Unusual Acts of Devotion and The Stendhal Syndrome.

Guests at the gala will include Playhouse Board of Trustees members James Earl Jones, Christopher Plummer, and Joanne Woodward, as well as A.R. Gurney, Cecilia Hart, John Kander, James Naughton, Jack O’Brien, and the cast of the Playhouse’s 2011 production of McNally’s Lips Together, Teeth Apart, Chris Henry Coffey, John Ellison Conlee, Jenn Gambatese, and Maggie Lacey.

McNally’s credits include the plays Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune, Love! Valour! Compassion!, The Ritz, as well as the books of the musicals Ragtime, The Full Monty, among many others.
