Westport Country Playhouse, under the artistic direction of Mark Lamos, has announced the five productions that will comprise its 2012 season.

Lamos will direct the season opener, a 25th anniversary revival of Into the Woods (May 1-19), with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, and book by James Lapine. This is a co-production with Baltimore’s CENTERSTAGE.

Maureen Anderman will star in the solo show, The Year of Magical Thinking (June 12-30), based on the National Book Award-winning memoir by acclaimed author Joan Didion. David Kennedy will direct the satirical comedy Tartuffe (July 17-August 4), written by Molière, and translated by Richard Wilbur.

WCP will present the world premiere of the comedy Harbor (August 28-September 15), written by Tony nominee Chad Beguelin and directed by Lamos. In it, 15-year-old Lottie and her ne’er-do-well mother Donna drop in unannounced on the beautiful Sag Harbor home of Donna’s brother Kevin and his new husband Ted, with several complications ensuing.

The season will end with Lorraine Hansberry’s A Raisin in the Sun (October 9 – November 3), telling the story of the Youngers, a black family in 1950s Southside Chicago, and their quest for a piece of the American Dream.
