David Engel and Michael Kostroff Join Goodspeed’s Carnival!

David Engel and Michael Kostroff will take over the roles of Marco the Magnificent and Schlegel, respectively, in Goodspeed Musicals’ production of Carnival!, beginning with the August 18 performance.

They replace Mike McGowan, who is leaving to join the Toronto production of Priscilla Queen of the Desert the Musical, and Laurent Giroux.

Engel’s Broadway credits include Putting it Together, Seussical: The Musical, and the original Broadway production of La Cage Aux Folles. He also originated the role of Smudge in Forever Plaid and Plaid Tidings. Kostroff is best known for his work on HBO’s The Wire and Disney’s Sonny with a Chance. He toured nationally in The Producers and Les Misérables.

Carnival! features music and lyrics by Bob Merrill, book by Michael Stewart, based on material by Helen Deutsch with revisions by Francine Pascal. It is currently playing at Goodspeed through September 18.
