Full cast and creative team information has been announced for Yale Repertory Theatre’s Richard II. The production, to be directed by Evan Yionoulis, will run September 21-October 13, with an opening set for September 27.

In the play, King Richard II sits uneasily upon the throne of England, as a conniving court and a state-funded war with Ireland turn the tide against him. When the banished Henry Bolingbrook returns with the intention of usurping the crown, Richard is swept into a political and personal maelstrom that will change a nation forever.

In addition to the previously announced Jeffrey Carlson (Richard II) and Alvin Epstein (John of Gaunt and Gardener), the production will feature George Bartenieff (Duke of York) and Billy Eugene Jones (Henry Bolingbroke). The ensemble will also include Brian Burns, Caitlin Clouthier, Jonathan Fried, Carter Gill, Kristjiana Gong, Christopher Grant, Brent Langdon, Michael Leibenluft, Christopher McFarland, Christopher McHale, Dan Moran, Edward O’Blenis, Josh Odsess-Rubin, Joseph Parks, Allen E. Read, Judith Roberts, and Joe Tapper.

The creative team will include Mike Yionoulis (original music), Brenda Davis (set), Melissa E. Trn (costumes), Ji-Youn Chang (lighting), and Sarah Pickett (sound).

Carlson most recently played the title role in the Shakespeare Theatre Company’s production of Hamlet in Washington D.C. He has appeared three times on Broadway, in Taboo, for which he received a Drama Desk Award nomination for his portrayal of Marilyn, The Goat, or Who Is Sylvia?, and Tartuffe. Additional theater credits include Bach at Leipzig, Manuscript, and Last Easter. He is also known for playing transgender rock star Zarf on ABC’s All My Children.
