Broadway's Original Mary Poppins, Ashley Brown, Leads Goodspeed Workshop of Queen Mother

The new musical examines the life of silent film star Charlie Chaplin’s mother, Hannah Hill.

Goodspeed Musicals has announced the cast of its upcoming industry workshop of Queen Mother, a new musical that chronicles the life of Hannah Hill, Charlie Chaplin's troubled mother. The invite-only presentations will take place at New York Live Arts on Thursday, July 31 and Friday, August 1.

Broadway veterans Ashley Brown (Mary Poppins) and Katie Klaus (The Bridges of Madison County) lead the cast, which also features Matt Bailey, Klea Blackhurst, Jonathan Brody, Vincent Mario Crocilla, Eric Michael Gillett, Ethan Khusidman, Brittney Lee Hamilton, and Jeffrey Scott Stevens. The ensemble additionally includes Lori Ann Ferreri, Matt Gibson, Brody Karn, Michael Milton, Sarah O’Conner, Amber Owens, Natasha Scearse, Laura E. Taylor, Natalie Wisdon, and John Yi.

Based on the original play by Roberto Gómez Bolaños, Queen Mother features a book and music by Florinda Meza, lyrics by Jack Murphy, and arrangements and orchestrations by Michael Moricz, with additional material by Lynne Taylor-Corbett and additional compositions by Michael Moricz. The production is directed and choreographed by Corbett, with music direction by Edward G. Robinson.
