Hana Sharif Named Associate Artistic Director of Hartford Stage

Director, playwright and producer Hana Sharif has been promoted to the position of Associate Artistic Director of Hartford Stage. She will succeed Jeremy B. Cohen, who as previously reported, will become the new Producing Artistic Director of The Playwrights’ Center in Minneapolis.

Sharif first joined Hartford Stage seven years ago, and has been its artistic producer for the last three years. She will assume her new position on August 9.

Sharif’s production of Gee’s Bend at Hartford Stage last season won the Connecticut Critics Circle Award for Best Ensemble and earned Sharif a nomination for Best Director. She is scheduled to direct the company’s MainStage production of August Wilson’s Gem of the Ocean this upcoming season.
