Westport Country Playhouse to Present Symposium on Alan Ayckbourn

Westport Country Playhouse will present a Sunday Symposium entitled A Conversation About the Work of Alan Ayckbourn, following the August 2 matinee performance of Ayckbourn’s comedy How The Other Half Loves. Howard Sherman, executive director of the American Theatre Wing, will be a guest speaker.

The symposium will be a free-ranging discussion about the playwright, his influences and his impact on the modern theatre. David Kennedy, Westport Country Playhouse associate artistic director, will moderate the symposium, which is open to all, including those who attend a performance of How The Other Half Loves at another time.

Ayckbourn is currently represented on Broadway by The Norman Conquests, which won the 2009 Tony for Best Revival of a Play. His numerous other works Communicating Doors, Absurd Person Singular, Bedroom Farce, Just Between Ourselves, A Chorus of Disapproval, Woman in Mind, A Small Family Business, and Comic Potential.
