Long Wharf Finalizes Season With Gordon Edelstein’s Version of A Doll’s House

The Long Wharf Theatre in New Haven, Connecticut has announced that a new version of Henrik Ibsen’s A Doll’s House will be the final production in its 2009-2010 season. Gordon Edelstein, the theater’s artistic director, will both adapt and direct Ibsen’s classic. The production, which resets the drama in a contemporary suburb, is scheduled to run April 28-May 23.

House joins the previously announced lineup which begins with the musical The Fantasticks (October 7 – November 1), directed by Amanda Denhart. The world premiere of Athol Fugard’s Have You See Us? (November 24-20) follows. This is the first of the playwright’s work to take place in the United States and Sam Waterston is slated to star in this work, which is set on Christmas Eve at a diner in a Southern California strip mall.

Lois Smith and David Margulies will co-star in another world premiere: Darci Picoult’s Lil’s 90th (January 6 – February 7), directed by Jo Bonney. Also on tap for the theater in 2009-10: A.R. Gurney’s comedy, Sylvia (February 17 – March 14), directed by Eric Ting, about a love triangle between a man, his wife, and the man’s dog and Nilaja Sun’s acclaimed solo show No Child… (March 17 – April 18).
