Tina Fabrique, Athol Fugard, Judith Ivey to Be Part of Long Wharf’s 2010-2011 Season

Long Whart Theatre has announced four of the six works that will make up its 2010-2011 season.

Long Wharf’s season will open with Jeffrey Hatcher’s Ella, The Musical, starring Tina Fabrique as Ella Fitzgerald. The theater will also present the U.S. premiere of Athol Fugard’s The Train Driver. Based on a true story, this new work focuses on a man who wanders the graveyards of Port Elizabeth, searching among the unnamed ones for the final, nondescript resting place of a young woman he unintentionally killed.

Tony Award winner Judith Ivey will star in a revival of Willy Russell’s Shirley Valentine, about a housewife who sees herself in an entirely new light when she has the opportunity to travel to Greece with a friend.

The season will also feature a production of Simon Gray’s The Old Masters, which focuses on art historian Bernard Berenson and notorious art dealer Joseph Duveen in the years just before World War II.
