Stage and screen star Kate Mulgrew will play the Queen of the Nile in Shakespeare’s Antony and Cleopatra, to run October 7 – November 7 at Hartford Stage. Tina Landau will direct the production.

An Obie and Outer Critics Circle Award-winning actress, Mulgrew was most recently seen on Broadway in Equus opposite Daniel Radcliffe and Richard Griffiths. Off-Broadway, and at Hartford Stage, the actress played Katherine Hepburn in Tea at Five. Among her Shakespeare credits are Measure for Measure at the Mark Taper Forum and Titus Andronicus for Shakespeare in the Park. Mulgrew is perhaps best known for her portrayal of Captain Kathryn Janeway on television’s Star Trek: Voyager.

Landau’s Broadway credits include Tracy Letts’ Superior Donuts and the revival of Bells Are Ringing. She is a member of the Steppenwolf Theatre Company, where she has directed plays by Chekhov, Saroyan, and Shakespeare, including The Tempest. She and Mulgrew have collaborated previously: in the 2007 production of Charles Mee’s Iphigenia 2.0 seen at the Signature Theatre Company Off-Broadway.

Additional casting and creative team will be announced at a later date.
