Hartford Stage has announced two productions of the company’s 2008-2009 mainstage season: William Shakespeare’s romantic comedy, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, directed by Lisa Peterson, and a new stage adaptation of Harper Lee’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel To Kill A Mockingbird.

The company is about to present Theresa Rebeck’s The Scene, starring Matthew Arkin (April 3-May 4), followed by Olympia Dukakis and Kevin Anderson in Michael Wilson’s production of Tennessee Williams The Milk Train Doesn’t Stop Here Anymore (May 15-June 15).

This summer, Hartford Stage will present Elaine Stritch at Liberty (June 24-29), in which the star presents a no-holds barred look at her life and career; the biomusical Ella, with Tina Fabrique as singer Ella Fitzgerald (July 8-27); and Carrie Fisher in her autobiographical solo piece Wishful Drinking (August 6-17).
