Goodspeed Musicals' "Red Sox Version" of Damn Yankees Announces Complete Casting

The revamped Richard Adler and Jerry Ross classic opens at the Connecticut theater this April.

East Haddam, Connecticut's Goodspeed Musicals has announced casting for its spring production of a "Red Sox Version" of Damn Yankees.

Adapted from Richard Adler and Jerry Ross' Tony Award-winning musical, includes a new book by Tony Award winner Joe DiPietro (Memphis) and is directed by Daniel Goldstein (Hello, Dolly!).

Broadway alum David Beach (Mamma Mia!) will lead the cast as Applegate, with Angel Reda (Chicago) taking on the role of Lola and Stephen Mark Lukas (The Book of Mormon) as Joe Hardy. The cast also includes James Judy (Jekyll & Hyde) as Joe Boyd, Ann Arvia (Mary Poppins) as Meg Boyd, Ron Wisniski (Something's Afoot) as Coach Van Buren, Lora Lee Gayer (Follies) as Gloria, Kristine Zbornik (A Catered Affair) as Sister, and Allyce Beasley (La Cage aux Folles) as Doris. The ensemble will also include Joven Calloway, Ryan Cavanaugh, Sean Ewing, Steve Geary, Timothy Hughes, Danny Lindgren, Michael Mendez, Alfie Parker Jr., and Victor J. Wisehart. The swings will be Colin Scott Cahill and Vanessa Dunleavy.

The production's creative team includes scenic design by Adrian W. Jones, costume design by David C. Woolard, lighting design by Brian Tovar, and sound design by Jay Hilton. Michael O'Flaherty will serve as music director along with assistant music director William J. Thomas and orchestrations by Dan DeLange.

Damn Yankees is set to run from April 11-June 21, 2014.
