Kathleen Turner to Star in World Premiere of Matthew Lombardo’s High

Kathleen Turner will star in the world premiere of Matthew Lombardo’s High, to be presented by TheaterWorks at City Arts on Pearl in downtown Hartford, July 9-August 22. Rob Ruggiero will direct. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.

Turner will play Sister Jamison Connelly, who agrees to sponsor a 19-year-old drug-user in an effort to help him combat his addiction, and ends up having her own faith tested. High replaces Reasons To Be Pretty as the fourth offering in TheaterWorks’ 2009- 2010 season. It is a co-production with Cincinnati Playhouse, where it will run September 4-October 2, and Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, where it will play October 13-November 7.

Turner will next be seen in the world premiere of Red Hot Patriot: The Kick-Ass Wit of Molly Ivins, by Margaret Engel and Allison Engel, to run at the Philiadelphia Theatre Company, March 19-April 28. She received Tony nominations for Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, with other theater credits including The Graduate on Broadway and The Third Story Off-Broadway. Her many film credits include War of the Roses, Romancing the Stone, Prizzi’s Honor, Body Heat, and Peggy Sue Got Married.
