Fabrique, Fisher, Stritch to Be Part of Hartford Stage Summer Line-Up

Hartford Stage has announced the complete line-up for its 2008 summer season.

The summer will kick off with Ella, about First Lady of Song Ella Fitzgerald, July 8-27. The production — which features nearly two dozen songs including, “Cheek to Cheek,” “That Old Black Magic,” and “How High the Moon” — will star Tina Fabrique. The actress was nominated for a Tony for Bring in ‘Da Noise, Bring in ‘Da Funk and recently appeared in the world premiere musical The Women of Brewster Place.

Hartford Stage will then present a special presentation of Elaine Stritch at Liberty, July 31-August 3. In the show, Stritch presents a no-holds barred look at her life and career, and includes songs and stories from her many theatrical highlights including Company, Sail Away, and Pal Joey. The show won a Tony Award for Best Special Theatrical Event as well as Drama Desk Awards for solo performance and Outstanding Book of a Musical. Stritch also received an Emmy Award for the television broadcast of Elaine Stritch At Liberty.

The final show of the summer will be Carrie Fisher in her autobiographical solo, Wishful Drinking, August 6-17. The show, currently playing Berkeley Rep, chronicles her unusual childhood as the daughter of Debbie Reynolds and Eddie Fisher, her rise to movie icon status as Star Wars‘ Princess Leia, her marriage to Paul Simon, and more.
