Yale Repertory Theatre has announced revised casting for August Wilson’s The Piano Lesson, to run January 28 -February 19, with an opening on February 3. Liesl Tommy will direct the production.

Set in Pittsburgh in1936, the play focuses on a brother and sister who have very different ideas about their mother’s legacy, as embodied by the upright piano that sits in the sister’s home.

The company will now feature Joniece Abbott-Pratt, Eisa Davis, Tyrone Mitchell Henderson, Charlie Hudson III, LeRoy McClain, Keith Randolph Smith, Charles Weldon, and Malenky Welsh. The previously reported Frankie R. Faison has withdrawn from the production for personal reasons, and has been replaced by Smith.

The creative team will include DeDe Ayite (scenic design), Jennifer Salim (costume design), Alan Edwards (lighting design), and Junghoon Pi (sound design). Davis will provide the original music and serve as the show’s music director.
