The Westport Country Playhouse has revised its 2009 season, under new artistic director Mark Lamos and managing director Michael Ross, including canceling
To Kill a Mockingbird a stage adaptation of Harper Lee’s novel to be directed by Michael Wilson, that will be produced solely by Hartford Stage.

The season will open with Around the World in 80 Days, Mark Brown’s adaption of Jules Verne’s novel, which played early this year at New York’s Irish Repertory Theatre (April 21-May 9). It will continue with A.R. Gurney’s family drama, Children (May 26-June 13); the late Jonathan Larson’s autobiographical musical, tick, tick… BOOM! (June 23-July 18); and Alan Ayckbourn’s comedy How the Other Half Loves, to be directed by John Tillinger (July 28-August 15). A fifth and sixth play will be announced at a later date.

In addition, the Playhouse will present the world premiere of playwright-in-residence David Wiltse’s The Greatest Gift, as the theater’s holiday offering.
