International Festival of Arts & Ideas Announces 2009 Line-Up

The theater line-up has been announced for the 14th annual International Festival of Arts & Ideas, to run in various locations in the New Haven area, June 13-27. The programming will include theater, dance, music, family performances, community events, discussions, and seminars.

Highlights will include Barabbas Theatre Company’s U.S. premiere of Circus (Yale School of Drama, June 13-20), inspired by Federico Fellini’s 1950’s film La Strada; Gare St. Lazare Players Ireland’s production of Samuel Beckett’s First Love (Long Wharf Theatre, June 17-21), about a young man, expelled from the family home upon the death of his father, who takes refuge on a bench by a canal; and Katona József Theatre Company’s production of Anton Chekhov’s Ivanov (Yale School of Drama, June 24-27), presented in Hungarian with English surtitles.
