Randal Myler and Dan Wheetman’s Mama Hated Diesels to World Premiere at Denver Center

The world premiere musical Mama Hated Diesels — by Randal Myler and Dan Wheetman, co-authors of such musicals as Fire on the Mountain and It Ain’t Nothin’ But the Blues — is a centerpiece of the ambitious 2010 line-up that Denver Center Attractions has announced today.

Diesels, produced by Denver Center Theatre Company, is a musical portrait of America’s long-distance truckers. Developed from interviews with the men and women who crisscross the country in their 18-wheelers, the show will run March 19-May 9.

Recent hits from Broadway surround this premiere. The season kicks off when the national tour of Legally Blonde the Musical comes to town (February 2-14). Mary Poppins follows (March 4-April 4), and the spring will also see the national tour of In the Heights (April 28-May 9).

Over the summer Mel Brooks’ Young Frankenstein (June 15-27) and Lincoln Center Theater’s revival of South Pacific (July 20-August 1) will arrive. Finally, the Denver Center Attractions season is rounded out with the tours of The 101 Dalmations Musical (August 31-September 12) and SHREK the Musical (November 2010).
