Growing up listening to songs by artists like Judy Garland, Barbara Streisand and classical/jazz soprano Eileen Farrell, Linda Eder knew she wanted to follow in their footsteps. A regular on many stages, she headlined her own stage show at Atlantic City's Harrah's Casino by age 26. But her big break came on the television show Star Search, where she tried out for and won a spot on the first episode of the 1987 season. She remained unbeatable for an unprecedented 12-week run on the show, a feat which led to a leading role in the 1990 Broadway-bound musical Jekyll & Hyde.
