The full cast and creative team have been announced for American Theatre Company's Chicago premiere of The People's Temple, September 4-22, with Leigh Fondakowski at the helm. The piece is written by Fondakowski in collaboration with Greg Pierotti, Stephen Wangh, and Margot Hall.

The play is set in Jonestown, Guyana circa 1978, when an interracial religious group, led by Jim Jones, fled America to the remote jungles of South America to build a utopian community. This production combines actual interviews with survivors and family members and live gospel music to tell the stories of a community that dreamed of a better life, and saw it's own demise.

The cast will include Patrick Andrews, Daniel Bryan, Darrell W. Cox, Tim Dekker, Cheryl Graeff, Kenn Head, Amy Methany, John Mohrlein, Tania Richard, Editha Rosario, and Penelope Walker. The designers will include Sarah Lambert (sets), Christine Pascual (costumes), Betsy Adams (lighting), and Kevin O'Donnell (sound).
