 | | E. Faye Butler | The full cast and creative team have been announced for the upcoming Court Theatre production of Tony Kushner's Tony-nominated musical Caroline, or Change, starring E. Faye Butler. The production will play, September 11-October 19, with Artistic Director Charles Newell at the helm.
The coins that 8-year-old Noah leaves behind in his pockets are more than just spare change to Caroline Thibodeax (Butler), an African American housekeeper working in a basement laundry room in Louisiana in 1963. Blending blues, gospel, and traditional Jewish melodies, this personal story is drawn from Kushner's own childhood, with a backdrop of the vast social change taking place in 1960s America. The cast will feature Malcolm Durning (alternating with Jack Mulopulos) as Noah, Kate Frye as Rose, and Rob Lindley as Stuart, as well as Melanie Brezill, Starr Busby, Rebecca Lynn Davis, Donavan Epison, Donica Lynn Henderson, Dennis Kelly, Peter Kevoian, Iris Lieberman, Harriet Nzinga Plumpp, Jacqueline Williams, Micah Dejon Williams, and Byron Glenn Willis.
The creative team will include John Culbert (scenic design), Robert Denton (lighting design), Jacqueline Firkins (costume design), and Joshua Horvath (sound design).
