Windmilled: Tilting at Don Quixote
Tickets and Information
WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
The Neo-Futurists present the world premiere of Windmilled: Tilting at Don Quixote, conceived and directed by Sharon Greene, written and performed by Sharon Greene, Shawn Huelle, and Jay Torrence. Taking Don Quixote as its inspiration, Windmilled is an exploration of the hopeless cause and the un-winnable battle. In keeping with The Neo-Futurists' commitment to non-illusory theater, the actors do not play characters on stage -- no one impersonates the famous knight or his squire. But with foam bats in place of lances and a small flock of bean bags with wings, the cast hopes to evoke the questionable glory of heroism while creating the kind of funny, unpredictable, interactive theater that has made The Neo-Futurists one of the mostly highly respected and well attended homes for experimental theater in the country. Written collaboratively with an emphasis on physical feats of daring and mental feats of justification, Neo-Futurists Sharon Greene and Jay Torrence, along with guest artist Shawn Huelle, tell stories of their attempts to champion good in the face of impossible odds and of struggling pointlessly against immovable obstacles. Windmilled asks: What makes us fight these battles and how do we learn to lay down our arms at last? When you set to be a hero do you always end up an ass?
