Chicago Shakespeare Theater presents the world premiere of the new family musical, The Emperor's New Clothes, directed by Rachel Rockwell. Based on Hans Christian Andersen's classic story of the same name, the CST-commissioned work is by Alan Schmuckler (music and lyrics) and David Holstein (book), and takes a tuneful contemporary spin on the classic tale. This new adaptation adds a bright, sassy daughter for the monarch and populates his kingdom with a gaggle of comedic courtiers and sullen citizens.
