Through Paul Schmidt's clear and hilarious translation, Piccolo Theatre and director Zachary Davis will take The Cherry Orchard back to where Chekhov originally intended: a comedy rooted in vaudeville where laughing through the tears takes on a whole new meaning. Genuine, truthful and absurd - Piccolo aims to strip down the dramatic artifice which Chekhov has been attributed, without sacrificing the poignancy, to bring a new and energetic spin on an old classic.
