WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
The Metropolis Performing Arts Centre presents Tom Dudzick's fun-loving family comedy Over the Tavern, a hilarious story about growing up Catholic in 1950s America. Meet the Pazinskis - Chet, Ellen and their four kids: high-schoolers Eddie and Annie, 12-year-old wise-acre Rudy, and Georgie, their brother with learning disabilities. The Pazinski family is just trying to make ends meet in their cramped apartment above the family bar and grill. Rudy, the budding comedian, dreams of growing up to be the next Ed Sullivan, but Sister Clarissa, Rudy's teacher at St. Casimir's Parochial School, just wants him to grow up. Beware the nun armed with a ruler when Rudy announces there are more than 1,300 religions in the world, so there's still time to "shop around" before confirmation. Add spaghetti, boys, girls and a Twinkie and you've got the setting for a heartwarming family story, and non-stop fun. Lauren Rawitz directs.
