WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

A bold psychological account of a troubled mother/son relationship, Natural Affection depicts the fallout that ensues when a once abandoned son returns home from years at reform school to spend Christmas with his unwed working mother and her live-in boyfriend. Written by Inge in 1962 as a response to an ever-increasingly violent society, Natural Affection was met with controversy for its frank portrayal of aggression, sexuality, and misguided passion. The play mixes the political with the personal in an evocative exploration of the universal need for love and the devastating consequences that can arise from its denial. John Mossman directs. No shows on Saturday, May 28th and Sunday, May 29th.
