Chicago is known for turning out fantastic improvised comedy; the recently created team of Stripper's Picnic is no exception. These veteran improvisers, who have performed together at iO and separately across stages in Boston and Chicago, are now debuting their own self-created long form improvised comedy: Goodie Basket.
The team borrows the best of iO's signature "Harold" form and makes their own derivative form in Goodie Basket. In a showcase that exhibits their eerily uncanny group mind, the Stripper's Picnic team takes one suggestion from the audience and alternates between character monologues and dramatic scenes. The team's form is designed to break the fourth wall as characters split momentarily from the reality of their scene to reveal their inner thoughts, motivations, or anecdotes. The results are sometimes poignant, often wacky, and frequently hilarious.
