WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
The Grammy Award-winning eighth blackbird returns to MCA Stage with the fascinating and provocative concert series PowerFUL/LESS. The first of the two concerts, PowerFUL, confronts the audience with a program of passionate and politically charged works featuring John Corigliano adaptation of Bob Dylan's Mr. Tambourine Man with soprano Katie Calcamuggio and Coming Together by Frederic Rzewski. For the second performance, PowerLESS, Northwestern University student musicians join the ensemble for a presentation of composer Steve Reich's Music for 18 Musicians. Also featured is a special arrangement of J.S. Bach's Chaconne from the Partita in D minor that utilizes Reich's instrumentation.
