WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Program One: October 21 at 7:30pm; October 26 at 7:30pm and November 1 at 2pm
The Zoo Story pits the slightly crazed transient Jerry against the staid, uptight Peter. After a chance encounter on a Central Park bench, the two engage in a tentative dance exploration and savage communication that is laced with ironic humor and unrelenting suspense. Directed by Lynn Bernatowicz
The Death of Bessie Smith is directed by Chuck Smith. In a Memphis hospital in 1937, a racist nurse refuses to administer aid to an unseen accident victim, who is later revealed to be the legendary "Empress of the Blues." A dark, poetic portrait of institutional racism amid the crumbling aristocracy of the South.

Program Two: October 23 at 7:30pm; October 26 at 2pm; November 1 at 8pm
Box is a female voice describing the eternal human predicament and the degree to which art can serve as a solace or a spur.
The Sandbox is the story of a young man, exercising in a spotlight. Enter a middle-aged couple, bringing their elderly Grandma to die on the beach. As the ancient woman begins to cover herself in sand, her relationship with the athlete is revealed in an absurdist farce which challenges traditional views of life and death.
Finding the Sun tells the story of the lives of three couples and a mother colliding during a chance meeting at a beach.

Program Three: October 25 at 2pm; October 29 at 7:30pm; November 2 at 2pm
Marriage Play is the story of a long-married couple rehearsing for a separation that never quite happens, recounting in blisteringly comic, disturbingly unsentimental fashion the memorable points in a marriage in which nothing is ever really enough.
