WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Betty Rules, the all-true (well, mostly) story about the rock band Betty is directed by Michael Greif (Rent).
Direct from a sold-out, seven-month run off-Broadway, the show is the pop-rock journey of Betty, a five-piece band fronted by three full-on females: Alyson Palmer, Amy Ziff, and Elizabeth Ziff, with back-up guitar and drums provided by Tony Salvatore (guitar) and Ted "Mino" Gori (drums). The show follows the New York band's 18-year rock n' rollercoaster ride on the live music scene. Over the years, Betty has dazzled audiences with its tight harmonies, adrenaline-charged live performances, wicked sense of humor and unapologetic in-your-face rock n' roll attitude, attracting formidable fans from activists to misfits, musicians to media moguls. Betty Rules, written and performed by Palmer and the Ziff sisters, chronicles the trials and tribulations of an unsigned band in a signed-band world. Their story recalls the makes, breaks and heartaches and the rocky road's key players (ex-boyfriends and girlfriends beware: all names have NOT been changed!)
