Gentle begins performances tonight at the Den Theatre.

Adapted and directed by Zeljko Djukic from Fyodor Dostoevsky's short story "A Gentle Woman," Gentle follows a young immigrant woman, a pawnbroker, and their maid over the course of a short, mysterious marriage. Dostoevsky’s brilliant tale of the obsessive power of ego, and its ability to push ordinary people to extraordinary measures, is modernized as a story of our times.

The cast features Tom Dacey Carr, Danielle Tucker, and Lauren Demerath. Design and technical collaborators include original music by Natasha Bogojevich, movement direction and assistant direction by Aileen McGroddy, music direction by Wain Parham, scenic design by Kurtis Boetcher, costume design by Natasha Djukic, lighting design by Keith Parham, sound design by Jeffrey Levin, dramaturgy by Evan Hill, prop design by Leticia Guillard, and stage management by Drew Donnelly.

Performances continue through March 26.
