Churchill, a new play adapted and performed by Ronald Keaton, will make its off-Broadway premiere at New World Stages beginning February 6. The play, which opens February 18, is based on the life and writings of Winston Churchill.

Set during March 1946, Churchill is preparing to deliver his "Iron Curtain" speech after receiving an invite from President Harry Truman to speak in the States at Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri. He's been defeated for reelection as prime minister, he's led Britain and the Allies to victory in World War II, and he's been forced into retirement. He arrives in Fulton to an informal and esoteric gathering of friends and supporters, and shares his life in flashback. Kurt Johns directs the producton.

Keaton, a mainstay of the Chicago stage, has appeared at several prominent theaters including the Goodman Theatre, the Chicago Shakespeare Theater, and the Drury Lane Oakbrook Terrace, among many others.

Scenic and lighting design for Churchill is by Jason Epperson, with projection design by Paul Deziel and sound design by Eric Backus.

Churchill is a joint production of the Greenhouse Theater Center, SoloChicago, and the Wendy and William Spatz Charitable Foundation, with the support and permission of The Churchill Centre.
