New Disney Stage Adaptation of Bedknobs and Broomsticks to Have World Premiere

The musical will be written by Brian Hill and Neil Bartram, with songs from the classic film.

Chicago Shakespeare Theater will present the world premiere of the new Disney stage musical Bedknobs and Broomsticks May 30, 2019-July 28, 2019.

Directed and choreographed by Rachel Rockwell, the musical, based on the novels by Mary Norton and the Angela Lansbury-led film, will feature songs heard in and cut from from the film by Robert M. Sherman and Richard B. Sherman, with a book by Brian Hill and additional songs by Neil Bartram.

Chicago Shakespeare Theater's season kicks off with Jessica Swale's comedy Nell Gwynn, directed by Christopher Luscombe (September 20-November 4); a remounting of Joe Dowling's 1999 production of A Midsummer Night's Dream (December 6-January 27); the National Theatre of Great Britain's production of J.B. Priestley's An Inspector Calls directed by Stephen Daldry (February 19-March 10); and Hamlet, directed by Barbara Gaines (April 17-June 9).

A sixth production will be announced.
