Vices & Virtues begins its repertory run this evening at Profiles Theatre.

Running in repertory are two evenings of stories about love: An Evening of Vices and An Evening of Virtues. The various short plays are filled with all manner of surprises, bring lust and hate, humor and sadness, and virtue and depravity to the forefront. Central to both evenings are the questions: What is love? What is it not? And how far can it be stretched.

An Evening of Vices, the first in the rotation, features the world premieres of "I’m Going to Stop Pretending That I Didn’t Break Your Heart" and "Totally," alongside the Midwest premieres of "Happy Hour," "The Great War," and "Lovely Head." An Evening of Virtues brings audiences the Midwest premieres of "Good Luck (in Farsi)," "Romance," "Kandahar," "10-K," "Swallowing Bicycles," and "Mulberry Bush."

Neil LaBute’s eleven short plays are directed by a group of directors including Bradley Bartolo, Tara Branham, Eric Burgher, Brianne Duncan Fiore, Jeff Gamlin, Joe Jahraus, Miles Mabry, Kay Martinovich, Andy Root, Benjamin Thiem, and Scott Wolf.

"It’s so great to be working on another project with Profiles Theatre and it’s especially nice to have it be two evenings of short works," says playwright Neil LaBute. "I love writing in this form and it’s always hard to find a home for this kind of piece. Thankfully, my collaboration with Profiles allows for this type of experimentation and creates a home for so many artists to work on this project at the same time. This is a really terrific way to start the new year!"

The creative team includes Greg Pinsoneault (set design), Mike Rathbun (lighting design), Brandon Reed (sound design), Uriel Gomez (costume design), and Amber R. Dettmers (production stage manager).

Performances will run through March 6.
