Chicago Shakespeare Theater's Teller-Directed Tempest Announces Casting

The reimagined Shakespearean play will open the theater’s 2015-16 season.

Chicago Shakespeare Theater has announced the cast and creative team for its upcoming production of The Tempest, directed by Aaron Posner and Teller, of Penn and Teller. Performances will run from September 8-November 8 in the Courtyard Theater.

The reimagined Shakespearean classic will feature songs by Tom Waits and Kathleen Brennan, with choreography by Matt Kent of the dance troupe Pilobolus. Larry Yando will star as Prospero, with Eva Louise Balistrieri as Miranda, Luigi Sottile as Ferdinand, Nate Dendy as Ariel, Manelich Minniefee and Zach Eisenstat as Caliban, Barbara Robertson as Gonzala, Adam Wesley Brown as Trinculo, Lawrence Grimm as Antonio, Michael Aaron Lindner as Sebastian, John Lister as Alonso, Ron E. Rains as Stephano, and Christopher Rose as Minion (as well as the production’s assistant magic designer).

The creative team will feature scenic design by Daniel Conway, lighting design by Thom Weaver, magic design by Johnny Thompson, costume design by Paloma Young (with additional costumes by Rachel Laritz), sound design by Ray Nardelli, and wig and makeup design by Melissa Veal.
