Beautiful to Hold National Open Casting Calls for the Role of Carole King

Other parts in the musical will also be cast for the Broadway, touring, and international productions.

Beautiful — The Carole King Musical will hold a nationwide open casting call for its title role, producers have announced. The show’s casting directors will hold an open call for the role of Carole King at New York City’s Ripley Grier Studios on January 16 and will also search nationally for Caroles and other cast members for the Broadway, touring, and international productions. Jessie Mueller, the Tony Award-winning star of Beautiful, most recently extended her contract with the musical through March 6, 2015.

Beautiful opened on Broadway at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre on January 12. The show, which chronicles the early life and career of the legendary and groundbreaking singer/songwriter Carole King, features a Tony-nominated book by Douglas McGrath. The musical's songs are written by Gerry Goffin and Carole King, and Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil, including "Will You Love Me Tomorrow," "One Fine Day," "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman," and more.

In addition to Mueller, the current Broadway cast of Beautiful includes Scott J. Campbell as Gerry Goffin, Anika Larsen as Cynthia Weil, Jarrod Spector as Barry Mann, Paul Anthony Stewart as Don Kirshner, Liz Larsen as Genie Klein, and an ensemble that includes Gisela Adisa, Ashley Blanchet, Andrew Brewer, E. Clayton Cornelious, Joshua Davis, Alysha Deslorieux, Kevin Duda, James Harkness, Sara King, Rebecca LaChance, Douglas Lyons, Gabrielle Reid, Rashidra Scott, Sara Sheperd, Yasmeen Sulieman, Daniel Torres, Melvin Tunstall, and Alan Wiggins.

Additional open calls will be held for all roles in Beautiful in Seattle (January 24), Orlando (February 7), Pittsburgh (February 21), and Chicago (February 28). For more information about audition locations, timing, and preparation materials, click here.
