The hit 2012 off-Broadway play Tribes, written by Nina Raine, is now making its Chicago premiere at Steppenwolf Theatre Company. The cast of six features Alana Arenas, Francis Guinan, Molly Regan, Steve Haggard, and Helen Sadler, with John McGinty in the central role of Billy.

The play focuses on Billy, a deaf man born into a hearing family who meets a young woman on the brink of deafness. As he enters into a larger deaf community, he begins to rebel against his family and embarks on a journey toward self discovery.

Steppenwolf ensemble member Austin Pendleton directs the production, which will run in Steppenwolf's Downstairs Theatre through February 9, 2014.
