Klea Blackhurst to Star in Drury Lane’s Gypsy

Klea Blackhurst will play Rose in Gypsy at The Drury Lane Theatre in Oakbrook Terrace. William Osetek will direct the production, scheduled to run January 19 – April 1, with an opening on January 26.

Based on the 1957 memoirs of burlesque legend Gypsy Rose Lee, the musical has music by Jule Styne, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, and a book by Arthur Laurents.

Blackhurst’s stage credits include Chicago, Bingo, Anything Goes, Radio Gals, By Jupiter, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, and Call Me Madam, among others. She has won both the MAC and the Back Stage Bistro Award, and has performed at Joe’s Pub, Birdland, Carnegie Hall, the London Palladium, Royal Albert Hall, and many other top venues.

Along with Blackhurst, the musical, with, will feature Andrea Prestinario as Louise and David Kortemeier as Herbie. Additional casting will be announced shortly.
