The Steppenwolf Theater has announced an extension for its current production of Conor McPherson’s The Seafarer, originally set to close February 8. The production will now run through February 22 with Randall Arney at the helm.

Set in Dublin on Christmas Eve, the play follows Sharky, who has returned home to look after his aging brother, when old drinking buddies, a card game, and a stranger from the distant past force Sharky to play for his very soul.

As previously announced, the cast stars John Mahoney as Richard, Francis Guinan as Sharky, Tom Irwin as Mr. Lockhart, Alan Wilder as Ivan, and Randall Newsome as Nicky. Bradley Armacost will replace Guinan as Sharky on February 3. The creative team includes Takeshi Kata (sets), Janice Pytel (costumes), Daniel Ionazzi (lights), and Richard Woodbury (sound).
