Renee Fleming to Sing at Chicago Symphony Orchestra Gala

Opera superstar Renee Fleming will sing with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra as part of their opening night gala at 7pm on Saturday, October 3. The orchestra will be led by guest conductor, Paavo Jarvi.

Fleming will perform Samuel Barber’s Knoxville: Summer of 1915, a nostalgic depiction of an evening in the American South, as well as four songs by Richard Strauss. The concert will also include Strauss’ musical tone poem Till Eulenspeigel’s Merry Pranks and Leonard Bernstein’s “Divertimento.”

Fleming is one of the opera world’s most sought opera singers, and has hosted a wide variety of film and television broadcasts, including the Metropolitan Opera’s Live in HD series. She will appear at the Metropolitan Opera this season in Armida.
