Deanna Dunagan to Participate in Laramie Project Benefit

Tony Award winner Deanna Dunagan will be among the participants for About Face’s benefit reading of The Laramie Project, to be held at the Center on Halsted’s Hoover-Leppen Theatre, on Monday, October 6.

Written by Moisés Kaufman and members of Tectonic Theater Project, the piece is based on over 200 interviews with residents of Laramie following the 1998 murder of Matthew Shepard. The reading will be directed by Tectonic Theater Artists Leigh Fondakowski and Kelli Simpkins.

The cast also includes Will Allan, Patrick Andrews, Annabel Armour, Daniel Bryant, Scott Duff, Brian Goodman, Elliot Greenberger, Kyle Hall, Ted Hoerl, Ora Jones, John Judd, Patricia Kane, Keith Kupferer, Amy Matheny, Larry Neumann Jr., Kelli Simpkins, Phil Smith, Penelope Walker, and a group of young performers from About Face Youth Theatre.

Dunagan won the Tony Award for her portrayal of Violet Weston in August: Osage County, which she will reprise for the upcoming London premiere of the play. She won a Jeff Award for her performance in I Never Sang for My Father and her many Chicago credits include Bounce, Wedding Band, James Joyce’s The Dead, and The Best Man.
