Carmen Cusack and Jason Danieley will star in Chicago Shakespeare Theater‘s production of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s Pulitzer Prize-winning musical Sunday in the Park with George. Gary Griffin directs the production, which runs September 26-November 4.

Danieley will play artist Georges Seurat, who struggles to balance his relationship with his muse/mistres, Dot (Cusack) with his work as he creates the painting “A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte.” In the second half, the focus is on Seurat’s great-grandson, George, a famous but unsatisfied artist, and his relationship with his grandmother, Marie.

They will be joined by Rachel Cantor, McKinley Carter, Sean Fortunato, Kevin Gudahl, Derek Hasenstab, Ora Jones, Heidi Kettenring, Michael Aaron Lindner, William Travis Taylor, Elizabeth Lanza, Ben Magnuson, Madison Olszewski, and Linda Stephens.

Cusack played Nellie Forbush in the national tour of South Pacific. Danieley’s many stage credits include Curtains, The Full Monty, and Floyd Collins.
