Stephen Sondheim to Be Honored at Chicago Humanities Festival

Stephen Sondheim will receive the 2011 Chicago Tribune Literary Prize, to be presented to him at the Chicago Humanities Festival on Sunday, November 6.

The prize is part of the Chicago Tribune‘s ongoing dedication to reading, writing, and ideas. Sondheim will accept the award at the festival and be interviewed about his life and work in an open-to-the-public presentation.

Sondheim’s oeuvre includes more than 80 musicals, including A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Company, Follies, A Little Night Music, Sweeney Todd, Sunday in the Park with George, and Into the Woods. Among his many other honors are an Academy Award, numerous Tony Awards (including a special award for Lifetime Achievement), a 2011 Olivier Special Award, multiple Grammy Awards, and a Pulitzer Prize.
