Mary Beth Fisher, William Petersen, Robert Sella, Ruined, et al. Receive Jeff Nominations

Nominations for the 41st annual Jeff Awards, honoring excellence in professional theater in the Chicago area, have been announced. The awards will be presented at a ceremony at the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts in Skokie, on October 19.

The Goodman Theatre and Manhattan Theatre Club’s co-production of Ruined earned six nominations, including for its production, playwright Lynn Nottage, director Kate Whoriskey, actors Russell G. Jones and Saidah Arrika Ekulona, and Dominic Kanza’s incidental music.

Among the notable acting nominees are William Petersen for Blackbird, Robert Sella for Amadeus, Mary Beth Fisher for Rock ‘n’ Roll, E. Faye Butler for Caroline, or Change, Hollis Resnick for Grey Gardens, Jon Michael Hill for The Tempest, Spencer Kayden for Don’t Dress for Dinner, and Taylor Mac for his solo, The Young Ladies of…

Forbidden Broadway: Dances with the Stars earned multiple nominations, including for revue, directors Gerard Allessandrini and William Selby, actors Mark David Kaplan and Leisa Mather, and for the entire ensemble. Other shows with five or more nominations include A Minister’s Wife, Caroline, or Change, Miss Saigon, Twelfth Night, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Not Enough Air, and The History Boys.
