Greasy Joan & Co. Announces Cutting Edge Classics Series

Greasy Joan & Co. has announced the first annual Cutting Edge Classics Series, a weekend of free new play readings commissioned by Greasy Joan, playing at various Chicago venues, August 16-17.

The series will include Anthrax: A Contemporary Mash-up of Phaedra and Dr. Faustus, August 16 at 2 pm, Ann Marie Healy’s update of the Faustian myth placed in contemporary academia. Anthrax will be directed by Julieanne Ehre at Woman Made Gallery. Peter A. Campbell’s adaptation from a number of Greek tragedies and the Taneyev opera of The Oresteia, Orestes/West, will play at Juicy Wine Co. August 16 at 6 pm with Meghan Beals McCarthy at the helm.

Joe Meno’s Lady into Fox will close the series, August 17 at 2 pm. Meno’s adaptation of David Garnett’s novel about a husband who finds his wife suddenly transformed into a fox will play at The Book Cellar with direction by Libby Ford.
