Cast and Creative Team Announced for Drury Lane Theatre Production of Next to Normal

The Tony Award- and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical will make its regional premiere at the Illinois theater.

The complete cast and creative team has been announced for the upcoming production of Brian Yorkey and Tom Kitt’s Tony Award- and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical Next to Normal at the Drury Lane Theatre. Performances are set to begin August 15 with an official opening set for August 22. The production will run through October 6.

Next to Normal opened on Broadway in 2009, winning three Tony Awards including one for its original score. The pop/rock musical follows an average American family struggling to keep their various skeletons hidden away and trying to keep their lives afloat while the matriarch suffers with the effects of bipolar disorder.

The production stars Jeff Award nominee Susie McMonagle as Diana (Les Misérables) and Jeff Award winner Rod Thomas as Dan (Big at Drury Lane Theatre). Skyler Adams plays Henry (Hair at The Paramount Theatre ) and Callie Johnson is Natalie (Saloon at Peninsula Players), with Colte Julian as Drs. Fine/Madden (Million Dollar Quartet at the Apollo Theater), and Josh Tolle as Gabe.

Drury Lane Theatre Artistic Director William Osetek directs the production with Jeff Award nominee Ben Johnson serving as musical director. The creative team also features choreography by Jeff Award winner Tammy Mader, scenic design by Scott Davis, lighting design by Heather Gilbert, costume design by Sally Dolembo, prop design by Nick Haggestad, and sound design by Jeff Award winner Ray Nardelli.
