Diane Lane and Finn Wittrock will star David Cromer’s production of Tennessee Williams’ Sweet Bird of Youth at the Goodman Theatre, September 15-October 21.

The play centers on the improbable relationship between Princess Kosmonopolis (née Alexandra Del Lago), a Hollywood legend fleeing the disastrous premiere of her latest epic, and Chance Wayne, a young actor-turned gigolo.

Lane’s Broadway credits include The Cherry Orchard, Agammemnon, and Runaways. She was nominated for an Oscar for Unfaithful and Emmy Awards for Cinema Verite and Lonesome Dove.

Wittrock appeared on Broadway in Death of a Salesman, for which he won the Clarence Derwent Award and Theatre World Award, and his other stage credits include The Blue Deep, The Illusion, and Romeo and Juliet. He starred on ABC’s All My Children.

Cromer’s many directorial credits include The House of Blue Leaves, Brighton Beach Memoirs, Tribes, Adding Machine, and Rent.

In addition, the Goodman has announced that artistic director Robert Falls will direct Shakespeare’s Measure for Measure, March 9-April 14.
