Theater Building Chicago has announced the performance line up for the Stages 2008 festival, August 15-17. The festival will feature four musicals by a diverse group of writers from Chicago, New York, and London and members of Theatre Building Chicago’s Musical Theater Writers Workshop.

This year’s musicals will include Here On This Hill, a musical about three generations of men in one amusingly dysfunctional family from the minds of Edward M. Cohen and Marshall Coid; Take Me America, Bill Nabel and Bob Christianson’s work which follows nine refugees in their quest for asylum in the United States and the immigration agents who agonize over their fate; Belle Barth: If I Embarrass You, Tell Your Friends, the Joanne Koch-Owen Kalt-Ilya Levinson piece that explores the bawdy humor of Belle Barth, a nightclub comic in the 1950s; and Killala Bay, which tells the story of Grace abandons her metropolitain life in search of ancestors in an Irish backwater.

STAGES 2008 will kick off with a musical showcase of the past 15 years, August 15, and the festival will also offer a series of 4 panel discussions reflecting the everchanging world of musical theatre.
