PHOTO FLASH: Michael Cerveris, Heather Headley, Derek Jacobi et al. at Chicago Shakespeare Gala

Tony Award winners Michael Cerveris and Heather Headley were among the performers at Chicago Shakespeare Theater’s Silver Jubilee Gala, held at the company’s home on Navy Pier on Monday, June 6.

CST inaugurated the “Spirit of Shakespeare Awards” at the gala, honoring those who keep the spirit of Shakespeare alive through community service and artistic leadership. Artistic honorees at the gala were renowned director Sir Peter Hall, founder of the Royal Shakespeare Company, and acclaimed stage and screen actor, Sir Derek Jacobi. Civic honorees were John W. and Jeanne M. Rowe.

Performers at the event also included CST veteran actors Kevin Gudahl, Ross Lehman, Greg Vinkler and Larry Yando.

The gala raised more than $1,225,000 for the company’s Team Shakespeare education program.
