The Chicago Dramatists 2009-2010 season will begin with the world premiere of Mia McCullough’s Lucinda’s Bed (October 1-November 8), to be directed by Jessi D. Hill. In the play, the monster under six-year-old Lucinda’s bed introduces himself one night, and keeps turning up in the most peculiar places, even when she’s grown up and married.

The world premiere of Will Cooper’s Jade Heart will be presented, April 22-May 30. The work concerns a Chinese girl abandoned as an infant and adopted by an American, and her struggle to come to terms with her identity.

The company will also continue its Saturday Series of staged readings of plays-in-progress, as well as its private reading series, twice-annual Deadline Workshop, and its First Draft Series.
